Tot Ball-(League Age 4) Tot Ball is a non-competitive program focused on fun, fitness, and fundamentals where 4-year-old players are first introduced to the basics of baseball once a week with a combined practice/game format. Avon Little League strives to provide a Tot Ball experience focused on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment while incorporating a high level of physical activity.  Tot ball is played 1 day per week (Fridays) May-July.

Tee Ball-(League Ages 5) Tee Ball is a non-competitive program focused on fun, fitness, and fundamentals where players aged 5 are first introduced to the basics of baseball. Avon Little League strives to provide a Tee Ball experience focused on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment while incorporating a high level of physical activity. Tee ball is played 2 days per week (Mon/Wed/Sat) May-July.

Coach Pitch-(League Ages 6-7) The Coach Pitch division is designed for young players ages 6-7, focusing on skill development, basic game understanding, and teamwork. In this division, coaches pitch the ball to the players, this allows kids to focus on hitting, fielding, and learning the fundamentals of the game in a supportive environment. The emphasis is on fun, building confidence, and introducing players to the structure of the game, such as base running, field positions, and teamwork. The rules are simplified to help ensure a positive and engaging experience for young players. Coach pitch is played 2 days per week (Tue/Thu/Sat) May-July.

Rookie-(League Age 8) The Rookie Baseball Division features 5-inning games that combine both coach and kid pitching, offering a fun and developmental experience for young players. In the early innings, coaches pitch to help players focus on hitting and game fundamentals. As the game progresses, players take the mound to develop their pitching skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment. This hybrid format encourages skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while keeping the game exciting for all participants. The season culminates in a tournament. Regular season record does not determine seeding. Rookie is played 3 days per week (Mon-Thu/Sat) May-July.

Minors-(League Ages 9-10) The Minors Division is an exciting step up from the Rookie Division, offering kids, league aged 9 and 10 an introduction to more advanced aspects of the game. In this division, players transition to all kid pitch. This brings a new level of challenge and excitement as players develop their skills in pitching, hitting, and fielding. Key elements like base stealing are introduced, teaching players more about baserunning strategy and awareness. The season culminates in a tournament. Regular season record does not determine seeding. Minors is played 3 days per week (Tue/Thu/Sat) April-June

Majors-(League Ages 11-12) The Majors Division is the next competitive level, where players face more advanced pitching, strategic play, and team dynamics. Majors is for league ages 11-12. The Majors Division provides players with an opportunity to develop their skills at a higher level and experience more intense competition. The season culminates in a division tournament. Regular season record does not determine seeding. Majors is played 3 days per week (Mon/Wed/Sat) April-June.

Tot and Tee Ball- (League Ages 4-6) A smaller field is used for T and Tot Ball Softball. This consists of a field with bases no longer than 50 feet, following standard softball rules with specific Avon Little League rules. These divisions practice and play all games at Little League Park in Avon. All players are used in the field for defense. In these leagues, players hit a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching and should focus on fun, fitness, and fundamentals. The primary goals of these programs are to instruct children in the fundamentals of softball and to allow them to experience the value of teamwork. This may also be the first time they are introduced to playing on a team with other people. There is no minimum or maximum for Tee Ball rosters, but we will keep roster size to a minimum so we can keep all players engaged. Tot ball is played 1 day per week (Fridays) May-July. Our Coach Pitch Division practices and plays all games at Little League Park in Avon. Rosters for Coach Pitch will have a minimum of 10 players per team. 10 players are used in the field for defense. When batting, neither walks or strikeouts are permitted. Coach Pitch softball is a combination of a coach pitching, with a batting tee being brought in after 5 attempted swings. Girls should be learning the fundamentals of fielding, catching and throwing. Girls are required to play all positions in the infield and outfield. Players will not pitch in this league, and the league does not use a catcher. Score will not be kept, but teams will track runs scored so Avon Little League rules for run limits are followed. It is strongly suggested that girls complete a year of T-Ball prior. Coach pitch is played 3 days per week (Mon/Wed/Sat) May-July.

Rookie- (League Ages 8-9) A smaller softball field is used for Rookie. This consists of a 30-foot pitching distance and 50-foot bases, following standard softball rules with a few specific Avon Little League rules. Our Rookie Division practices and plays all games at Little League Park in Avon. 10 players are used in the field for defense and walks are not permitted. If a batter reaches 4 balls in an at bat, a coach will come in to finish the at bat. When this happens, the batter puts the ball in play or strikes out. Girls should be able to field, catch some of the balls in the air and work to fully throw a ball across the field. Teams should work with the girls that would like to pitch at this age. If they want to pitch, it is suggested they work at home and during practices and games. It is highly encouraged that teams allow girls that want to pitch the opportunity to do so. Rosters for Rookie will have a minimum of 10 players per team. Girls should play all positions in the infield and outfield; nobody should specialize in a position. This is the first time a catcher is used in Avon Little League Softball. Score will be kept; the season will end in a year end tournament. Regular season record does not determine tournament seeding. Rookie softball is played 3 days per week (Mon-Thu, Sat) May-July

The Minors division plays on a standard softball field, with a 35-foot pitching distance and 60-foot bases, following Little League International softball rules, along with a few Avon-specific rules. This division uses 10 players on defense and serves as a transition to full kid pitch. Walks are permitted, and coaches may not be brought in to finish an at-bat. Teams are encouraged to develop pitchers who can consistently throw strikes—not just those who “want” to pitch. At this level, stealing bases is introduced, and runners may score on a passed ball. Players should demonstrate the ability to field, catch, and make accurate throws across the field. Each roster will include a minimum of 10 players. Girls should continue to rotate through multiple positions in both the infield and outfield to support skill development. Scores will be kept, and the season will conclude with a tournament. Regular season records will not determine tournament seeding. Minor softball is played 3 days per week (Mon-Thu, Sat) May-July

The Little League Challenger Division® was founded in 1989, and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges.

Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball or Softball program with reasonable accommodations they should do so. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4 to 18; or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school. The Senior League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 15 and above (no maximum age). These divisions are set through Little League International, however Avon Little League will combine divisions and age groups as necessary. Challenger Division plays Sunday May-July.
